Trauma Coaching

Are you a busy mom?
The head lioness who somehow gets everyone up and ready for school, keeps the house organized, makes sure everyone makes it to practice on time - I see you!
Because that’s me too.

But sometimes even a lioness needs a little help.
That’s where I come in.
Hi! I'm Marisol Montilla -
A trauma informed, mind-body coach that helps you work through old blocks and beliefs to live the authentic, purpose-driven life you deserve!
I found myself at a new low in life after I moved back from the Philippines in 2021. I had just gone through a divorce and moved with my kids back to Virginia. Even though I had grown up in America, I felt out of place, directionless, and confused about what to do next. I began looking for a way to feel more connected to myself. This searching led me to my own journey with mind-body trauma coaching.

This seemed like a natural next step for me.

My career started working in hospitals as a Child Life Specialist where my job was to be the liaison between the child, family, and medical team. Here I built my skills in understanding people's needs even if they are unable to clearly state them. Being able to create a safe, cooperative environment in the chaos of a hospital became my job for over 15 years.
This was also when I began working closely with other people’s trauma.
Many of the children and families that I helped were dealing with sudden trauma, long term illnesses and bereavement.
I could feel my heart ache for each of these families that went through losing a child, but I was always working with multiple families and knew I didn’t have the time to grieve or process this loss with them. The hospital life kept me busy.
What I didn’t know was that I was unconsciously holding on to this trauma in my body.
I had the privilege of holding space when people were going through some of their worst life experiences, but I didn’t have the skills to take care of myself.
After having my second child (and my second traumatic childbirth experience), I wondered why there weren’t people helping moms-to-be through the trauma and chaos of childbirth.

This inspired me to become a birth doula to help families and especially mothers through the childbirth process in a gentle and supportive way.

Once I moved back to America, I began to realize that healing trauma extends far past the initial moment it was experienced.
I found my own journey back to myself which has led me to be here with you today!
